Paris “Belles Montres”: French touching DeWitt !

The “Belles Montres” exhibition took place in Paris from November 25 to 27 in the prestigious Carrousel du Louvre. For its second participation, DeWitt not only displayed its finest and bestselling timepieces in a sober and welcoming atmosphere, but also offered the French public a unique chance to actually touch and dive into a 100% DeWitt Manufacture movement.

Considering France is the 4th largest export market for the Swiss watchmaking industry, no wonder thousands of watch enthusiasts and collectors stormed the gates of “Belles Montres” over the three days of the exhibition.

With its unique “hands-on” Atelier set up in the middle of its Booth, DeWitt was for sure one of the highlights of the day for many visitors. Men, women, children and oldies sometimes queued up to get a chance to put on the famous white blouse and test their watchmaking skills (and nerves) in an assembly exercise on DeWitt’s first 100% in-house calibre, DW 8028. The most tricky part of the game was assuredly the fixing of the Master watchmaker’s signature plate with two tiny little screws.

A couple of rather competitive students even challenged the clock, the fastest of which dismantled and reassembled the movement in 5 minutes and 14 seconds !

“Belles Montres” was also the occasion for many DeWitt enthusiasts to discover the new ladies collection released in 2011 under the name of “Golden Afternoon”. Three stunning pieces of refined poetry with delicate diamond setting and mother-of-pearl dials. And when Mr Thibaud Jaouen, DeWitt’s International Sales Director, occasionally made a live demonstration of probably the most unique piece of horological art, the WX-1, the booth filled up within seconds.

Last but not least, DeWitt was featured in the “Cube” section of the exhibition; a dedicated area reserved to only the 10 most exclusive and valuable “Haute Joaillerie” creations. With its emblematic Academia Tourbillon Force Constante à Chaîne in a fully paved black & white baguette diamond version (~ 17,19 Cts), DeWitt made great sensation as the only brand to combine high jewellery and extreme complications.
